Update for April 2015

Hi Internet!

So my plans for April is basically just to work on a new Gundam model that surprisingly came in the mail the day after I finished the Unicorn Gundam.

This is going to take the most time because its a Master Grade model (MY FIRST MASTER GRADE 1/100 scale!) and it will be a surprise what its going to be.  Lets just say it has katanas for weapons... :]

I already cut out all the pieces from the trays and organized them into these 1/2 pint jars and labeled them.  I'm taking a few jars at a time back to school where I will polish each piece up and sand them to be as clean as possible (cutting them out of the trays leaves a lot of crap jutting out that needs to be cleaned up to be put together right).

Very excited but will probably take a break from Gundam models after this one till the summer because they cost so dang much...(and I forgot, time consuming).

RX-0 Unicorn Gundam [Destroy Mode] HG

Hi Friends!

I had time this Spring break to build this super fun model and I absolutely love the clear red in between the white armor chassis. The picture definitely doesn't do it justice.
The model kit also came with a 1/144 base to hold up the Gundam model in a cool mid-flight pose.

Sadly I only took this one picture before heading back to school for the spring term.

Here's the link for this exact Gundam model and its only about $20(usd):

Monkey Amigurumi! or Crochet

I crocheted this amigurumi monkey for my mom's birthday present and another for a family friend.  I used brown yarn for all of the body and white felt pieces cut out for the face, chest, and the inner ear. Eyes are large sized black eyelets found at any craft/hobby store.  Finally, pink felt for the blush on the cheeks and black for the nose.  There is also a banana pin in her hair (head) which is made of yellow yarn and sewed on.  This was a very fun project to do and also very time consuming to finish one little guy.  More posts to come! I really need to work on this website tech stuff more too.

Gundam

This tab will be dedicated to Gundams which I am starting to get into after buying two boxes last winter.  Building them is such a tedious job but it's worth it in the end to see your finished model.  I did not take pictures of the procedure of building one but in the future that might be an idea for a post.

These are examples of the box covers and I love collecting the boxes too <3

The Blue Angry Bird o-o

I made this angry bird just for fun but sadly did not get to take a picture
of the red angry bird I made as a gift for someone.

GingerBread House Challenge!

These are pictures from a friendly competition we had at our church where each group was given certain materials to decorate their gingerbread house.

These were such a long time ago but I wanted to post them because it was such a great time, just trying to be creative and pushing yourself.

Orange Mushroom from Maplestory

Sorry for the terrible picture...but I loved the game Maplestory so I had to make one.

This is the comparison...I only had this bright orange yarn at that time :/ I think it's still cute.

Amigurumi Frosty the Snowman and Christmas Tree!

This is my first attempt at a real post so bear with me..

I will not be putting up the exact pattern because it is not mine.  This tutorial will only show the process so that others may have an easier time creating this if they decide to buy the pattern.  Sorry about that guys :/ not so much like a tutorial but a documentation of my process, but don't fret! tutorials will be on the way in the future!

Such a cute snowman I had to make it, a perfect gift for the holiday season for a loved one/friend. Also this is NOT my image but from a pattern I bought from an Etsy shop, the link will be below!

I bought this pattern a while back during school thinking of what I should make for my parents this Christmas.  I think it was definitely worth the $5.  Thanks to Pepika the Etsy shop owner for the pattern!

Finished size: If done with 2.5 mm hook and sport weight yarn the snowman is 6.5"/16.5 cm tall and the Christmas tree is 7"/18 cm tall.

Materials you will need
  • Solid plastic black eyes (you can get these at most craft stores)
  • Crochet hook (larger hook size=larger amigurumi, but more yarn)
  • A couple of hairpins (these act as markers, they save my LIFE)
  • Poly-fill or any doll stuffing you can find at craft stores (I use 100% polyester)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • White, green, red, and brown yarn.
Sorry if the picture quality is not professional.  The scissors, tapestry needle, and the brown yarn are not in the picture.

*I'll be using a 3.75mm hook so that the Ami comes out a little larger.

Snowman Head and Body

Image below is a "magic circle" in 6 stitch rounds

After several rounds the bottom of the body is being made.

The roundness of the body is starting to take shape like a bowl.

After increasing and working around each round, the
bottom half of the body is being finished and the waist area is done by
decreasing the stitches and then re-increasing them to give it that
curved look of a snowman.

Below we jump further ahead and it is now 3/4 of the way done with the body
and at this point I have already stuffed the bottom with fiber-fill to give it
some structure and stability, basically something to hold onto while i'm crocheting.

Below the body is finished and ready to be packed with poly-fiber
or some type of doll stuffing and tied off.

The body is now 100% complete and now it is just time for the rest of the parts.

Sorry in advance that I didn't take any more pictures because I was also struggling to figure out how the hat was done with double crochet and other techniques I have not memorized yet.  That is why I don't have pictures for the scarf and the pom-poms I made with them.

Below is the beanie hat I finally finished (after a couple of tries..) but while
I was making it I thought it could also work as a baby beanie if I ever want to make one
in the future.

I know a lot of text..i'll make it short if you made it this far or still reading.

This is the branches I made and I added stuffing and a metal tie you use
to twist on bags or groceries so that the branches can be moved and will stay firm.

TA-DA!!
This is my finished snowman!
Any comments feel free to ask them below I would love feed back :)

Posting Older Origami Creations :]

Hello Guys & Gals!

Before I begin posting photos of the new things I've created, I wanted to post some of the older ones.  Everyone will get to see how I have progressed over the years with my hobbies and will also give me an idea of where to go in the future.  I think it is great to just show people around the world and on the internet the things I make and how I express myself through them.

My Short Story:
It was all thanks to a friend I made who introduced me to origami in the 1st grade (age 6).  I started origami by making paper airplanes and doing contests with my friends and once even with the entire class.  He taught me many  other simple origami crafts.  He soon moved away after we started to get close.  On my own time I went to the neighborhood library and they had origami tutorial books and I would only make the more intricate and difficult ones that needed many pieces.  I collected around 30 books from basic to very advanced origami.  Since early highschool I have not touched on my origami hobby and moved on to other things such as guitar and crocheting.  I hope to start posting more on my blog and I guess I should end this wall of text.

Below I have a few images I picked out, but many of the things I make I give away or have the intention of giving to someone as a gift so I never took photos.  I rarely tend to make things for myself or have the motivation to.  I just love to cheer someone up with something I made with my own hands.

This is a 5-Intersecting Tetrahedral, I will start posting more on geometric origami in the future.

Here is an example of 3-D origami I got into later on in middle school.  Mini Pikachu next to a penny for comparison.

This is a 1,660 piece 3-D origami flat tiger frame.  Instead of using 3-D origami pieces to stack in a cylindrical fashion, I stacked them next to each other to create a flat almost pixel-like image.  This was also my Mother's Valentine's day gift with the red and white :) very proud of this one.

This is the original 3d Origami Pikachu I made with piano keys for scale.   I have a large scale (this one below) and a mini penny sized pikachu and a medium sized which was encased in acrylic clear resin that I gave away to a girl...(which I regret now hah)
